Common Dental Emergencies We Treat
Severe toothache
Persistent or throbbing tooth pain often means decay has reached the nerve, or there is an infection. We will find the cause and relieve your pain. Depending on what we find, treatment may include a filling, a root canal, or a tooth extraction.
Chipped, cracked, or broken tooth
Small chips can often be repaired with dental bonding. Larger fractures may need a dental crown to protect what remains of the tooth.
Lost or loose crown, or lost filling
A crown or filling that comes out leaves the tooth sensitive and vulnerable. Bring the crown with you if you have it. We will examine the tooth and explain the best way to restore it.
Knocked-out tooth
Time matters. A knocked-out adult tooth has the best chance of being saved if you see a dentist quickly. Call us immediately.
Swelling or a dental abscess
Swelling of the gum, face, or jaw can signal an infection that needs prompt treatment. If swelling makes it hard to breathe or swallow, or you have a high fever, go to the nearest emergency room or call 911.
Broken dentures, bridges, or other dental work
Damaged dentures, bridges, or implant restorations can be evaluated at an emergency visit. We will explain your repair or replacement options.
Wisdom tooth pain
Pain or swelling around a wisdom tooth can be evaluated at an emergency visit. We will discuss the right next step for you after the exam.
What to Do Before Your Appointment
These are general first-aid steps, not a substitute for professional care:
- Toothache: Rinse with warm salt water and gently floss to remove trapped food. Use an over-the-counter pain reliever as directed on the label. Do not put aspirin directly on the gums.
- Chipped or broken tooth: Save any pieces, rinse your mouth with warm water, and use a cold compress on the outside of your cheek to reduce swelling.
- Knocked-out tooth: Pick it up by the crown (the top), not the root. Rinse it briefly without scrubbing. If you can, place it back in the socket. If not, keep it in milk or saliva and call us right away.
- Lost crown: Keep the crown and bring it with you. Avoid chewing on that side.
- Swelling: Apply a cold compress for 10–15 minutes at a time and call us promptly. Seek emergency medical care for difficulty breathing or swallowing.
- Bleeding: Apply gentle, steady pressure with clean gauze. If bleeding does not slow after about 15 minutes, seek urgent care.

Emergency Dentist FAQs
Do you offer same-day emergency dental appointments?
Yes. Call 407-629-0002 and we will do our best to see you the same day during office hours.
How much does an emergency dental visit cost?
New patients can get an Emergency Exam & X-ray for $69 (limited exam and X-ray, D0140 & D0220). This limited-time offer cannot be combined with insurance. Treatment costs depend on what you need, and we explain them before we begin.
What are your office hours?
Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We are closed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Is a toothache a dental emergency?
Severe, persistent, or throbbing pain, or pain with swelling, should be seen promptly. It can signal an infection or nerve damage that gets worse without treatment.
What should I do if my tooth gets knocked out?
Hold it by the crown, not the root. Rinse it gently and keep it moist, ideally back in the socket or in milk. Call us right away, because fast treatment gives the best chance of saving it.
When should I go to the ER instead of the dentist?
Go to the ER or call 911 for facial swelling that affects breathing or swallowing, uncontrolled bleeding, a broken jaw, or a serious head injury. Also go if you have a dental emergency while our office is closed and cannot wait.
Do you take insurance for emergency visits?
We accept many dental insurance plans. Call us or visit our Insurance page to check your coverage.
